About Coyote Hills

Welcome to Coyote Hills Equine Rescue and Therapeutic Riding!  We are a 501(c)(3) non profit organization that was established in 2009.  Our mission is to rescue and rehabilitate neglected or abused horses.  After rehabilitation, our horses are used in equine therapy and youth programs for adults and children.

At Coyote Hills, we are passionate about teaching others the joy and benefits of basic skills and horsemanship.  Through volunteer programs, youth summer camp programs, and other opportunities, we have something for everyone!

We are powered by our local volunteers who help feed, groom, ride, and nurture our horses. Our wonderful volunteers, and community help make Coyote Hills an amazing home to so many horses.

Our Mission Statement:  Coyote Hills Equine Rescue and Therapeutic Riding is committed to rescuing and rehabilitating horses from harmful, neglectful, or abusive situations.  We rescue horses in need and protect them for life.  When horses come to Coyote Hills, they are at home.
At Coyote Hills, we proudly support the MS I CARE FOR ANIMALS car tag program.

WHAT WE DO AT COYOTE HILLS

Sometimes, events outside of an owner's control cause a situation where they can no longer care for their horse(s).  When possible, we can take in a horse under voluntary surrender.  In other cases, legal action can ensue, and horses are sent to the rescue.
Unfortunately, horse rescue is in demand far more than people realize.  Most rescues are full or at capacity.  Horse rescues work together, when possible, when there are large numbers of horses in need of rescue
Sometimes horses need a forever home at the horse rescue.  These are generally horses with special needs or older, debilitated horses.  These horses deserve to live out their golden years being loved and well cared for by our community and volunteers!

VOLUNTEER OWNER SURRENDER

Volunteering at Coyote Hills is a rewarding way to give back to the community.  As a volunteer, you will have options such as leading, grooming, riding, cleaning stalls, feeding, and much more!  Our success is dependent on loyal volunteers, and we are always looking for more people to join our ranch family of volunteers! Volunteer options are flexible, and there is something for everyone to do.
Sponsorship is when you meet the needs of a specific horse each month, which is a set amount.  When surprise expenses come up we look for grants or other means of payment.  So you commit solely to the set amount.  Horses remain at the ranch and are fed, hayed, watered, worked, groomed, and ridden by ranch volunteers.
Director, Kim Blanton, has several certifications in therapeutic riding including EAGLA-Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association.  Kim, is currently the only handler with this certification in our area.   Working with a mental health professional, a handler works with them in therapy sessions.  PTSD, depression, and OCD are a few of the conditions effectively treated with EAGLA.
